Vegetation Biologist - Intermediate

Responsibilities:

Stantec Calgary, downtown (8th Ave), is seeking an Intermediate Vegetation Ecologist to join our Vegetation and Wildlife Biological Sciences team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Manage and conduct

o Biological inventories with a focus on communities and species of concern that include rare species,

o Environmental impact assessments,

o A variety of natural resource planning projects.

* Intermediate level project management.

* Data analysis and management.

* Report preparation.

* Client relations.

* Supervision of interdisciplinary teams.

Some field work as required.

Qualifications:

Required

* Bachelors or Masters of Science in a related discipline from a recognized university.

* Minimum of 5 years experience which must include some consulting with oil and gas and pipeline related projects.

* Extensive experience with vegetation and EIA legislation and regulatory agencies (e.g. EUB, NEB, and CEAA).

* Experience with Western, Prairie and Northern ecosystems, particularly Alberta, BC and NWT.

* Botanical and vegetation inventory survey experience including taxonomy and species identification.

* Experience leading Environmental Assessments.

Assets:

* Air photo interpretation and remote sensing - hard and/or soft copy.

* Forestry.

* Range management.

* Reclamation.

Wetlands experience.
